Warrington's Big Apple becomes data vault of the North West
~ New North West data centre will meet growing storage needs of regional businesses ~
December 9 2005
Iron Mountain, the leader in outsourced records and information management services, is opening a new storage facility in Warrington's version of the Big Apple. Located in Appleton Thorn on the outskirts of Warrington, the data centre will employ up to 50 employees and will securely store over 2 million boxes of confidential files and records for local companies such as banks, solicitors and regional offices of large corporations.
The Big Apple site takes the total number of Iron Mountain storage facilities in the UK to 64 meeting the growing demand for storage in the North West and surrounding areas.
The new building will be opened by at 1.30pm on December 9th by the Mayor of Warrington, Councillor Hans Mundry, and the Managing Director of Iron Mountain Europe, John Prowse.
"Warrington is one of the fastest growing areas in the UK with hundreds of new businesses opening every month," said John Prowse. "However, as 78 per cent of companies that lose business critical information and fail to recover it within ten days go bankrupt, many companies are keen to have robust business continuity plans in place. Companies are therefore
increasingly storing vital information off-site with a back-up specialist."
Iron Mountain works with 80 per cent of FTSE companies and its decision to open a site near Warrington reflects the increasing growth in the region's economy.
"The Big Apple is an excellent location for businesses in the North West looking for secure storage. This is not just because our unit complies with the highest standards to guard against fire, flood and earthquakes, but also because it's close to major road transport links like the M56, M62 and M6." said John Prowse.
The new site is located at:
Grand Central @ The Big Apple
Stretton Green Distribution Park
Langford Way
Warrington
WA4 4TQ.
