Update: London Facility Fire, July 20, 2006

The Facts

On July 12, 2006, Iron Mountain experienced a fire at our facility in Prologis Park, Bromley-by-Bow. This facility primarily stored archival and inactive business records for London area organisations.

Update on the Incident and the Twelvetrees Crescent Site

The Iron Mountain Business Continuity Plan (BCP) was implemented shortly after the fire brigade was called to the incident at the site. The core London BCP team was mobilised and on location immediately to facilitate the following day’s operational and communication plan.

The site was initially under the control of the fire brigade and police. It has now been returned to Iron Mountain, with the Fire Brigade in attendance. However, as the fire scene is still viewed as unsafe, there is no access to the site. Iron Mountain has appointed a professional property project management team to manage the site through the clean-up phase. They have three primary responsibilities:

Ensure the continued health and safety of all staff on site. There were no injuries due to the fire and it is our intention to ensure that no subsequent injury is incurred.

Facilitate the police and fire investigation.

Security of debris - to ensure that Iron Mountain maintains the security of the residue from the fire.

Our Security Company is in place with a comprehensive guarding programme for the site.

Investigation into the Incident

The formal public authority investigation has commenced, but we do not anticipate that this process will be complete for some period of time. It is too early in the investigatory process to identify the cause of the incident. We await the outcome of the above investigations and we are co-operating fully with the authorities.

Additional Proactive Operational Measures

For cautionary reasons, while we are awaiting the outcome of the investigation, Iron Mountain has put additional security assets in place at all of its major sites in the UK and for our smaller sites, we are providing roving patrols. These additional security measures were actioned urgently. We are committed to the security of all of our sites and our clients’ data. Iron Mountain has rigorous process and procedures in place at each of our facilities.

On-Going Service Provision

The quality of our on-going service is of paramount importance to Iron Mountain. In parallel with the security of our customers’ data this is our primary concern. We would like to reassure you that the day-to-day service out of all of our other sites has been unaffected by this incident and our operational staff have continued to perform to our normal high standards. Iron Mountain is prepared for and fully capable of supporting the remainder of your records management needs from our other facilities. We have significant capacity within our London portfolio of properties to accommodate future growth requirements.
