Lentjes UK powers up automated backup with Iron Mountain Digital ~ selects LiveVault to safeguard company and client data in temporary office sites ~
June 6, 2007 - Lentjes UK, a specialist in environmental technology, is using technology from Iron Mountain Digital, the technology arm of Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM), to secure vital company and client data.
The company holds vast amounts of data such as plans, drawings, designs and contracts on remote servers based in temporary offices on its construction sites. It is using Iron Mountain's LiveVault® online data backup and recovery solution to automatically back up the data, ensuring its availability in the face of heightened risk of loss due to the environment it is stored in.
The LiveVault solution backs up the data continuously, saving it to an offsite, secure Iron Mountain data centre.
"Our remote offices are at risk of data loss due to their temporary nature - busy construction sites do not have the protection of a more permanent location," explained Lentjes UK's IT manager, Georgette Banham.
Lentjes UK previously used a tape-based backup system but with minimal staff on site it was often difficult to ensure that backups were being undertaken or completed correctly, thereby putting information at risk.
"There's too much scope for human and technical error when it comes to tape backup and we needed a solution that would ensure that our remote server data was secure," explained Banham. "In addition, it has to be easy and quick to restore in the case of a loss so that it doesn't cause any delay to the work of our specialists on site."
"Lentjes UK operates in difficult circumstances which increase the risk of data loss. However, like any company, it can't afford to lose vital company and client data so turned to Iron Mountain Digital for help," said Nick Cater, head of Northern Europe, Iron Mountain Digital. "Being able to trust that data is being backed up without fail and is easily available in the event of a data loss incident contributes to the continued smooth running of the company's construction projects."
