Poundland makes data savings with Iron Mountain Digital
~ cut-price retailer implements a digital protection strategy to prevent data loss ~
January 16, 2009 –Poundland is working with Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS) provider Iron Mountain Digital to protect its business critical data stored on laptops and ensure compliance.
As part of a wider data protection strategy, the implementation of Connected© Backup for PC and DataDefense™ products will prevent Poundland’s corporate information from falling into the wrong hands. It also guarantees that it can be recovered from the laptop should data be lost.
Protecting distributed data on laptops was a particular area of concern for Poundland. The company was aware of the vulnerability of data should a remote device be lost, stolen or the hard drive become corrupt and so began looking into how it could ensure that laptop data could be secured and backed-up, or wiped should a device be lost or stolen.
The retailer worked with Iron Mountain Digital to implement its PC Data Protection Suite including Connected Backup for PC and DataDefense products. The PC data protection suite software was initially tested on fifty percent of the company’s laptops. It was then deployed across the one hundred remote devices used by senior management and area managers at Poundland. The retailer has further plans to extend the solution to its remote devices in Hong Kong early next year.
